Texas Law Could Allow Doctors to Lie to Pregnant Women

Texas Lawmakers Continue to Restrict Access

Texas Senate Bill 25 recently passed its State Affairs Committee and is moving forward. The bill would allow for doctors to withhold health information from their patient if they believe the women may decide to have an abortion due to a fetal abnormality diagnosis.
Proponents of the bill believe that by withholding this information, the doctor is “protecting the life of a child with disabilities”.  This misguided opinion takes away women and families’ right to make personal decisions about their own bodies and lives.   We know that women are capable of deciding for themselves, in their specific circumstance, what do do when faced with a fetal indication. These women need full and adequate information to make this decision, not doctors stepping in and lying to them.
